Welcome

With the Braunschweig International Graduate School of Metrology the Technische Universität Braunschweig and the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) aim at establishing an international training centre for the science and application of traceable measurements.

The school combines three aspects:

  1. Metrology, as an interdisciplinary field with a common, rigorous methodology, determining the curriculum and scientific programme.
  2. Metrology aims at international harmonization and thus the school has a pronounced international approach.
  3. With the strong metrology-related research focus of the TU Braunschweig and with the PTB, Europe’s largest and internationally leading national metrology institute, Braunschweig is a top place for such a graduate school.

The research areas of the Graduate School are open to students from all scientific areas with a strong link to metrology. If you have a master's or equivalent degree in engineering, natural sciences etc. you are welcome to apply for a PhD position at our Graduate School.

Studying successfully at the Braunschweig International Graduate School of Metrology will qualify you for both an academic as well as an industrial career. You will be supported with an individually developed career plan and provided with many contacts to industry and research institutions. Furthermore, an international advisory board supports the graduate school.
